Forza Italia Giovani, the youth movement of Forza Italia, has recently held its first National Congress, electing the Chairman, 6 members of the National Board, 20 members of the National Council and 5 members of the Control Committee. This has been the conclusion of an important phase of internal dialogue and discussion inside our youth movement. The local congresses In each county and major city, FI Giovani held a local congress, electing the County Secretary and the County Council (composed of 15 persons). In total 105 local congresses were held, and more than 1600 local representatives of the youth movement were elected. Every member of FI Giovani held a vote at these congresses. There were no proxy votes. The regional congresses In 17 of the 20 Italian regions, we held a regional congresses. All the representatives elected in the local congresses of the region could vote in the regional congress, electing the Regional Secretary, the Regional Board (composed of 15 persons) and the Regional delegates to the National Congress. The total of regionally elected delegates was 240. There were no proxy votes. The National Congress On the weekend of December 11-12, 1999, we held our National Congress, in Rome, opened by the President of Forza Italia, Mr. Silvio Berlusconi. A total of 248 delegates (240 elected in the regional congresses and the 8 national board members) came from every corner of Italy. There were no proxy votes. Simone Baldelli was elected Chairman of FI Giovani. Our next National Congress will be held in two years. |
